US 7 and US 7.5 are the same shoe

Our sizing is inclusive. Two neighboring US sizes share the same EU size, so for example, Women's US 7 and US 7.5 both correspond to EU 38. Simply choose the option that includes your usual size.

That means there is no such thing as being between sizes. Pick your usual size and the leather does the rest as it softens and molds to your foot shape, usually within a week or two of wear.

Shopping in EU sizes? Even simpler. Choose the EU number you already wear.

How your current shoes convert, and what will feel different.

Birkenstock

Order the same EU number. Our EU sizing matches theirs. Their EU 38 is US women's 7 to 7.5, and so is ours.

What feels different: Birkenstock has a shaped footbed with a heel cup and raised edges, so your foot sits inside the sole. Ours is flat, so your foot sits more freely and can spread naturally.

That means the soles may look or feel different even in the same size. For foot length, choose your usual Birkenstock EU size.

Sneakers, loafers and dress shoes

Order your usual size. The fit might feel different: you will have more space around your toes, and the sole is completely flat instead of slightly raised at the heel. That extra room and flat shape are intentional parts of the barefoot design.

04 · Common questions

Before you order

Do Earthing Harmony shoes run true to size?

Yes. Order your usual size.

What surprises people is usually the width. The barefoot shape is wider through the toes on purpose, so your toes can spread as they are supposed to.

What is the difference between a 7 and a 7.5?

There is no difference. They are the same physical shoe. In women's, both are EU 38, and in men's that would be EU 40.

Our sizing is inclusive, so each box covers two neighboring US sizes. If you wear either one, choose that box.

Will my shoes stretch?

Yes, in most cases. Natural top-grain leather can feel a bit stiffer at first, but it stretches quickly. Mostly in the areas where there is gentle pressure, so it widens and softens around your unique foot shape.

Which is why we say start snug. Bear in mind though, it should not be painful, and your toes should not be curling or pushing hard into the front of the shoe. If they are, it is time to size up in length as well.

What does barefoot style actually mean?

Four things, all deliberate:

  • A wide, foot shaped toe box so your toes can spread
  • A completely flat sole, no raised heel, which is what zero drop means
  • No built in arch support, so your own foot muscles do the work
  • A thin, flexible sole so you can feel the ground

If you are coming from cushioned shoes it will feel different on day one. That is the point. Some people need a little time to get used to their feet working differently, doing the work and engaging.

Can I wear them with socks?

You can, though as our shoes are made with natural leather, most people choose to go barefoot. That also gives the strongest grounding connection, since the copper rivet needs contact with your skin.

If you prefer socks, our grounding socks are woven with conductive silver thread to keep that connection, and they are designed specifically for grounding shoes. Thin cotton or hemp socks may also let the connection through, although that is harder for us to guarantee.

For sizing: if you plan to wear socks most of the time, measure with them on.

Do these have arch support, and will they work with orthotics?

There is no built in arch support. A flat sole is the whole idea of a barefoot shoe, so if arch support is something you genuinely need, we would rather tell you now than after you have paid.

Orthotics usually fit inside fine. One thing to know: an orthotic that fully covers the copper rivet blocks the grounding connection. For grounding, look for insoles that leave the copper rivet at the KD1 point (the ball of the foot) exposed, so your skin can still make contact.

I have bunions, a high instep, or another foot condition. Will these work for me?

Earthing Harmony shoes are made from natural leather and designed in a barefoot shape, with a flat sole and no built in arch support. This lets your feet move more naturally, while the leather gradually softens and molds to your individual foot shape over time.

Because of this, many people with bunions, a higher instep, or other unique foot shapes find the shoes adapt comfortably to their feet. Natural leather may need a short break in period, especially in the areas where you need a little more room. As it softens, stretches and molds to your foot, the fit becomes increasingly personal, almost as though the shoes are adapting specifically to you.

For a high instep, styles with laces, adjustable closures, or a more open upper offer more flexibility and make it easier to customize the fit.

Every foot is different, so if you have a particular foot shape, condition or concern and are not sure which style would suit you best, please get in touch. We will be happy to help you choose the most suitable option.

I have wide or narrow feet. Will these fit me?

Earthing Harmony shoes are designed in a barefoot style, which means a wider, more foot shaped toe box than traditional shoes. This gives your toes more room to spread naturally and makes many of our styles a good option for wider feet.

They are also made from natural leather, which softens, stretches and gradually molds to your individual foot shape with wear, creating a more personal fit over time.

If you have narrow feet, keep in mind that the wider barefoot toe box may feel roomier than conventional footwear. In that case we recommend choosing styles with laces, adjustable closures, or a more secure fit, as these let you customize the fit more easily.

If you are unsure which style or size would suit your foot shape best, feel free to chat with us.

I am switching from cushioned, supportive shoes. What should I expect?

Give yourself a couple of weeks. Muscles that were resting in structured shoes start working again, which some people feel as mild tiredness in the arch or calf early on. That passes.

If they feel great on day one, wear them as you like. If they feel unfamiliar, start with an hour or two a day.

Important: break in is about your feet adapting. It does not fix a shoe that is the wrong length. Toes pressed against the end is a size problem, so exchange it.

What are they made from, and where?

Handcrafted in Turkey and Mexico, depending on the style, by small family run workshops.

  • Top grain leather uppers, a by-product of the food industry
  • Vegetable tanned leather soles, natural tannins instead of chrome
  • A pure copper rivet at the KD1 point, which carries the ground connection

Small variations in grain and color are normal in natural leather.

Are the leather soles slippery?

They can be when brand new on polished floors, since the soles are natural leather with no rubber outsole. Grip improves as they scuff with normal wear, and you can speed that up by rubbing them on a rough dry surface first.

Take care on wet, icy or very smooth surfaces.

I am buying a gift and do not know their size

Order their usual size. Inclusive sizing works in your favor, since one box covers two US sizes.

Then keep the order number in case they need to exchange.

Or let them choose everything themselves with a gift card.

What if the size is wrong anyway?

Don't worry, you have 45 days from delivery to exchange or return, so there is no pressure to decide on the doorstep. We are here to help you find the perfect fit.

Try them indoors on a clean surface first, since shoes need to come back in original, unworn condition. Full details on our shipping and returns page.
